I had the best sleep of my life. Partly because my five-foot-eight frame was absolutely exhausted from dancing to a medley of top-50 hits spit out from the decent speakers at my high school. It was the “summer dance,” aka the event where catholic school kids in heat go to rub their genitals on each other while Fergie narrates the sway of their hips.
Regardless, this superb siesta was not soly defined by my throbbing calfs. I decided to switch things up a bit in my sleeping patterns.. Instead of having the playlist of my eight hours of shut-eye to be silence, I plugged in my iPod to my bedside speakers and let the music of Sufjan Steven’s Seven Swans play. This folk masterpiece is characterized by the absolutely breathtaking vocals of Sufjan along with the soft pluck of a banjo and incredible harmonization. Anyways, if you ever have trouble sleeping, or if you simply want to make your dreams notably more lucid, add a touch of Swans to your sleep cycle. Although the addition of sound might disturb your ears for a short period of time, after the first track, “All the Trees of the Field Will Clap Their Hands,” compliments your heavy-eyes, you will immediately be transported into a whole new level of sleep.

****I rarely campaign for the purchase of albums, but seriously… cough up a few bucks and head over to a record store. Even download it online. Sufjan is not part of a major label, therefore, more than the normal 8 cents goes to him. As the owner of Asthmatic Kitty Records, he is able to have complete artistic control along with make more money off of album sales. If you dig this, buy the album. Its about the price of two subway footlongs…
